i. Initial Discussion and Site Meeting to discuss your project. I don't charge for this meeting but will be able to provide a quote for the design and planning work after this meeting has taken place.
ii. Measured Survey. You may already have plans of your house, in which case I can work from those plans. Otherwise, I carry out a full measured survey of the property.
iii. Existing CAD Model, Plans and Elevations Drawings of your house as it exists before any new alterations.
iv. Proposed CAD Model. Based on our initial discussions, this model shows the alterations and additions to the house. This is the design stage and is carried out through a series of meetings and deliberations, to fine tune the new design and layout. As Many people find it difficult to visualise what the project will look like, I use 3D ÇAD Models and Drawings' page.
v. Planning Documents and Application. Once the proposed design is finalised, produce a full set of planning drawings and submit the planning application. Examples of planning drawings can be seen on the 'CAD Models and Drawings' page.
vi. Specifications Drawings. Once planning permission is granted, produce a set of specifications drawings. These go into the detail of the new works will be built, to the requirements of the Local Authority Building Control. Examples of the specifications drawings can be seen on the 'CAD Models and Drawings' age.
'Before starting work with Sam, I had some idea of how I wanted my extension to look, but was somewhat daunted by the task of realising this vision. Using Sam, we were able to model a few ideas before settling on one that would suit my budget and planning. Sam's advice was both useful and relevant, he was able to offer excellent solutions and ideas, and he successfully guided the scheme through the planning process. It has been a pleasure working with Sam and I would recommend his services to anyone.'
I have worked in the building industry for 25 years, project managing building works before moving to architectural design. My experience spans both domestic and commercial projects.
After a free consultation, I take clients through the whole sequence of design, planning and building. With the latest CAD software, we can visualise and alter the design on-screen together, taking a 3D tour of your property before drawings are sent to print. The video below illustrates this part of the process.
Most of my projects are concentrated around Wiltshire, but commissions also take me to London, the South, the Midlands and occasionally further afield. Over the years, I've helped clients build new homes, extensions, offices, barn conversions, orangeries - even elaborate treehouses.
Please give me a call if you'd like to discuss your project or talk about the various processes of design, planning and building.
